NEW FESTIVAL, NEW TITLE
The Cathal Buí Community
Arts and Heritage Festival will run this year from Wednesday
23rd. June until Sunday 27th. June inclusive
in the border villages of Blacklion, Co. Cavan and Belcoo, Co.
Fermanagh. The change in title [previously it was known as the
Cathal Buí Summer School] reflects a desire to focus on the
local in terms of art, culture and heritage.
Cathal Buí ’04 promises
to be primarily a celebration of the people, traditions, and
landscape of West Cavan and West Fermanagh – Cathal Buí Country.
Drama, lectures,
art exhibitions, music and song together with workshops organised
both before and during the festival weekend by local artists
will reflect this theme, celebrating local artistic achievement
and encouraging participation and expression.
